Apple Mac Performa 630 (PC Compatible) CD Specs- M3076

Apple Mac Performa 630The Performa 630 was released alongside the educational version: the LC 630 as well as the business version: the Quadra 630. The case design employed in both the Quadra and Performa 630 computer was used throughout the initial PowerPC Performa range in the guise of the  Performa 6200 and Performa 6300, which both consisted of a limited design and 603 processor.

The Apple Macintosh Performa 630 (PC) features a 33 MHz 68LC040 processor with 8k of level 1 cache.

The Performa 630 shipped with either 4 MB or 8 MB of RAM and had a single SIMM slot that accepted a 72 pin 80ns memory module.  It could be upgraded to 36MB RAM (32MB modulke, 4MB soldered to motherboard).

The computer shipped with a 250 MB hard drive, a 1.44MB floppy disk drive and 2 x Apple CD rom drive.  The IDE based hard drive interface meant that users could upgrade the unit using off-the-shelf solutions.  However, the use of third party optical drives meant that solutions such as ROXIO (Now ROVI) Toast had to be employed.

Video & Graphics:

1 MB of onboard 60 ns DRAM is dedicated to video function and offers support for a single display up to 640×480 in resolution.  However, a second one can be supported with the addition of an LC PDS video card. With the internal VRAM, the system is capable of supporting 512×384 and 640×480 at 16-bit color and 800×600 and 832×624 at 8-bit color. The internal video could not be upgraded.

Ports & Connectivity:

This model has a single LC PDS, Comm, TV, and both video input and video output expansion slots. In the PC compatible configuration, the PDS slot is occupied.  It also incorporated a single DB-15 video out port, ADB port, DB-25 SCSI port, 2 x Serial ports (printer & Modem), a plaintalk microphone port, 8 bit stereo output port and front mounted headphone port.

PC Compatability:

The Perforam 630 PC-Compatible ships with a 66 MHz Intel 486DX2 processor card which can have a maximum of 32 MB of RAM dedicated to the DOS/Windows operating system. The consumer version of the LC 630 is the Performa 630 series and the business version is the Quadra 630.
