Apple iBook G4/1.2gHz 14-Inch (Early 2004 – Opaque White)

In addition to a 20% speed bump, the 2004 iBook uses a G4 processor with a 512 MB level 2 cache – twice as big as on the previous iBook G4. Another improvement is 256 MB of RAM on the system board (twice as much) and maximum RAM is now rated at 1.25 GB, twice as much as the 2003 iBook officially supported.

The iBook G4/1.2 14-Inch (Early 2004 – Opaque White), features a 1.2 GHz PowerPC 7447a (G4) processor with a 512k “on chip” level 2 cache, 256 MB of RAM (PC2100 DDR SDRAM), a 60 GB (4200 RPM) Ultra ATA/100 hard drive, a slot-loading DVD-ROM/CD-RW “Combo” drive, 4X AGP ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 graphics with 32 MB of DDR SDRAM, and pre-installed AirPort Extreme (802.11g) and optional Bluetooth 1.1 packed into an opaque white case with a 14.1″ TFT XGA active matrix display (1024×768 native resolution).

The second generation iBook G4 models — dubbed the “Early 2004″ series by Apple — are quite similar to the first revision, but have faster processors with twice the amount of on chip level 2 cache (512k instead of 256k) as well as twice the amount of onboard RAM (256 MB instead of 128 MB). The 14-Inch iBook G4 “Early 2004″ models also could be configured with a DVD-R/CD-RW “SuperDrive”.

The “Early 2004″ iBook G4 models also are similar to one another. The iBook G4/1.2 14-Inch (Early 2004) is quite similar to the iBook G4/1.0 14-Inch (Early 2004) introduced at the same time, but the “1.2″ model has a faster processor, a larger hard drive (60 GB instead of 40 GB), and pre-installed AirPort Extreme (802.11g).
