Apple Gets Go ahead to use Swiss Clock Design

As reported by Blick, a Swiss newspaper, Apple was accused in September of copying theSBB clock and IOS6 clock design of an iconic Swiss rail station clock for the new iPad and iPod IOS6.

At the time, Mondaine Group, a licensee of the design since 1986 also stated that it would challenge Apple over it’s use.

Designed by Hans Hilfiker in 1944, the clock face achieved iconic status in Switzerland and rights to the design are now held by the Swiss Federal Railway.

Having approached Apple Inc. to discuss the design infringement, SBB (Swiss Federal Railway) announced on Friday that a licensing agreement had finally been struck for an undisclosed amount.
