Our shipping costs cary from £1.50 for pram batteries through to £13.50 for a computer with keyboard and mouse or monitor. All our packaging is made to order from recycled card and void fill is manufactured from recycled Polystyrene.

Powerbook and iBook Power Adapter/ Power Supply

 Powerbook and iBook Power Adapters

We supply replacement power adapters for most Apple Powerbooks. Those shown are for the G3 and G4 range of Powerbooks and iBooks. we advise that 45 watt units should be used only with G3 iBooks and Powerbooks and 65 watt units used with the more powerfull G4 powerbooks and iBook. Note that Apple changed the dimesnions of the connector when the snow iBook was released. The clamshell ibook uses a larger adapter, the same as the 3400, wallstreet, Pismo and Lombard powerbook laptops. The snow iBook requires an adapter the same size as the Powerbook G4. The Powerbook G4 should have a higher rated unit than the G3 iBook though. Saying all that, we run our aluminium powerbooks on Original Snow iBook Power Supplies.

A few things to note about Apple's range of power supply units:

  • The newer cube (white) power supply should be looked after with care. It can break at the connector end, with the power cable fraying andeventually shorting out
  • If your iBook no longer charges the battery, but continues to power the computer, chances are it's the power management unit on the laptop that has failed (or needs resetting) and not the power supply itself. The same can be said when your iBook suddently stops powering up. Before considering shelling out any money, try resetting the power management unit.
  • Never cover your power supply when it's on. They get rather hot and need to dissipate this heat.
  • Take care of the power connector. It doesn't just provide power, but senses a connection to the laptop.
