Pram Batteries for Desktops Apple 1/2 AA batteris for Pre PowerPC and Powermac desktop.

These batteries are designed to fit in Apple Mac desktop computers and are for the following range of macs:

Installation of the pram battery is simple for the majority of macs. Open the top case or side door, remove the black cover from the battery compartment on the motherboard, take out the old battery and install the new one.

For Caddy loading iMacs, the task requires dismatling of the iMac. Turn the unit over and remove the single screw to the rear underside of the mac. Pull off the plastic cover via the handle provided. Remove 2 x screws holding the motherbaord in place and remove all cabling. Slide the motherboard in it's metal casing out of the mac. Turn the metal casing over to reveal the motherboard and it's pram battery.

For the more modern G3 iMac, by opening the door on the base of the mac and removing the memory, the pram battery will be revealed. Deft fingers/ tweezers will be required to replace the pram battery.

Make sure you observe polarity when installing the new battery. The + sign is clearly marked on the black battery case on the motherboard!
