Apple Mac Core Duo iMac flatpanel 1.83gHz 17 inch

The Apple iMac "Core Duo" 1.83 17-Inch (IG) was restricted to the education market during its short life and uses the same all-in-one enclosure as the iMac "Core Duo" 1.83 17-Inch, but most notably uses cheaper and slower Intel GMA 950 "integrated graphics".

The iMac "Core Duo" 1.83 17-Inch (IG) features a 1.83 GHz Intel "Core Duo" processor (T2400), with two independent processor "cores" on a single silicon chip, a 2 MB shared level 2 cache, a 667 MHz system bus, 512 MB of RAM (667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM, PC2-5300), an 80 GB (7200 RPM) Serial ATA hard drive, a vertically-mounted slot-loading DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive, an "Intel GMA950 graphics processor with 64 MB of DDR2 SDRAM shared with main memory", a built-in iSight video camera, and built-in stereo speakers underneath the 17" TFT Active Matrix LCD (1440x900 native) display designed to "bounce sound off the desk below". Connectivity includes three USB 2.0 ports, two Firewire "400" ports, built-in AirPort Extreme, and Gigabit Ethernet, as well as mini-DVI, which supports an external display in "extended desktop" mode (rather than just "mirrored mode").

Finally, the 24-inch iMac has an upgraded sound system, with a 24W digital amplifier (twice that of the other models) to power the built-in stereo speakers. The sound was much louder than on any other iMac we’ve used – useful for, say, watching a movie from across the room – and it had fairly good quality. (Audiophiles will still probably want a separate set of powered computer speakers or want to connect the iMac’s digital audio output to a good home-theatre system.)
