In order to use the software instruments, it's best
to consider a midi keyboard with midi in and out ports. We use a Yamaha PSR620 to input our
music to the system. To
communicate with the mac, the keyboard needs to be connected through a low
latency Midi interface which turns the midi signals into signals for the
usb port of the mac.
Apple recommended System Requirements Checklist

Macintosh computer based around a
PowerPC G4 processor minimum.
·
Memory: 512MB minimum (768 MB recommended)

Older versions of logic are available for the

Did you know:
- Logic Express supports multiple
processors on the Mac?
That's why we recommend a Dual G4
- Apple suggests a second Hard drive
. That way, Logic can work
off one while reading your tracks from the second drive.
- With 2 separate USB buses built
in, the mac will spport your USB peripherals at full speed
- With Firewire 400 ports on board,
your mac will be able to give a sustained 40 megs per second throughput
from external peripherals.
Firewire hard drives will be able to deliver outstanding
performance when recording and playng back music tracks.

Logic Pro
Now in version 7, Apple's Logic Pro is a serious piece of
software. With it's new instruments
and effects, coupled with loop composition tools it's pretty damn
powerful. This is further
enhanced by the fact that it will tap processor power from networked macs
to further enhance performance.
Imagine a music editing and production suite capable of 128 stereo
streams.
The software package is second to Nuendo in terms of cost ($999),
but you get more plugins and audio instruments than with any other
software.
Logic Pro can be difficult to learn when compared to other
packages, but it is still the best value in terms of quantity of
instruments and effects. The
looping effect is only good when you use the built in loops and fails in
terms of creating your seamless loops from you own previously recorded
audio.
