Codenamed Wallstreet and sold as a high end mac laptop for the professional user, the second generation of Powerbooks driven by a G3 processor really upped the speed and ability of the mac laptop range.
With it's G3 processor and motherboard with 66mHz, coupled with hot swappable bays, this mac left it's predecessors standing in the shade. Unlike the Kanga (original G3 powerbook), the screen to the wallstreet was remarkably good, giving a fantastic bright and crisp picture on a huge 14.1 inch TFT screen.
The Powerbook G3 was rounded off with stereo speakers, 2D/3D graphics accelerations, S-video output and zoomed video support. The powrbook Wallstreet is capable of supporting up to OS X( 10.1)
The G3 Series had a large, redesigned keyboard which included a new Function button allowing the keyboard to take on the functionality of a full size 105-key keyboard. It had 2 PC-card slots, which were CardBus compliant (a powerbook first), and the models included an S-Video output. The G3 Series had two drive bays, either of which could hold a battery or a wide array of 3.5" expansion devices, such as floppy or zip modules. The right drive bay could also accommodate larger 5.25" devices.
In effect, the wallstreet was a highly versatile laptop, with great abilities. We recommend this as a great investment if you are considering a low cost solution for word processing, email, web browsing and support for software run in the classic environment (OS 9). If you need a powerbook capable of running OS 10.3 or 10.4, we would suggest you consider our powerbook Lombard (G3 333mHz) and Pismo (G3 400mHz) range as a great alternative.
